TEACHER HANDBOOK
一、 教师形象:Teachers Behavior
1、教师应该是学生道德的榜样,是学生的良师益友。教师对学生的奉献与关心应反映出学校对学生发展的影响, 教师的言行应反映出学校所倡导的核心价值观。教师形象也是学校尊严、荣誉的体现。
The teacher is a model of a learner, an adult friend, a disciplinarian, and a role model. The school’s core educational philosophy is reflected by the teacher’s behavior. Teachers are to model a moral & ethical standard befitting a professional teacher within the context of the local school in which they are employed.
2、教师上课应准时到达教室,不能无故缺课。如因特殊情况不能上课,需提前一个工作日向校长说明理由,获准后才能不上课,并视情况扣除工作日工资。
If a situation arises which makes it impossible for the teacher to report to work for any reason, or if the teacher is unable to report to work on time, they are expected to notify to Principal personally at least one working day in advance of the scheduled start time. Teachers can take off only if Principal has approved, and may deduct salary depending on the situation.
The teacher should explain the reason for the absence or tardiness and when they expect to report for work. Failure to notify Principal may result in a written warning, up to and including being placed on probation, suspension or termination of employment based on file status.
The teacher is responsible for notifying Principal. He/she should not depend on friends, relatives, or fellow employees to report the absence or tardiness. The teacher is expected to call and speak with Principal.
3、教师上课及在校园一切活动均应着装得体,符合教师职业特点。
Administrators, teachers, and teaching aides are to be neat, clean, and professional in appearance. Women do not allow mini-skirt and shorts .Women may wear dress slacks. It is preferred that men wear slacks, and collared shirts with or without ties.
4、教师应当与其他教职员工保持温馨良好的关系,并呈现相互帮助、相互支持和相互协作的团队精神。
The teacher shall recognize that a school is one body rather than a collection of individual classrooms. Each teacher contributes toward a successful whole. Therefore, each teacher should relate in warm and supportive ways with other staff members and collaborate with others to foster staff development.
5、教师与家长应保持工作上的良好关系,避免因与家长的过密私人关系而感觉需要对个别学生特殊对待从而失去公平原则。不承担所教学生的有偿家教。
Maintain a professional relationship with parents. Avoid developing a relationship with parents that makes you feel that you must treat a student differently because of the relationship. Never tutor students for any kind of payment in school during school time, and do not tutoring your own students for any kind of payment.
6、教师应避免因个人情绪而有不当言行及内容暴露于学生面前,形成不良影响。
Teachers should avoid improper behavior which could be a negative on students. Teachers are to model a moral & ethical standard befitting a professional teacher within the context of the local school in which they are employed.
7、不嘲笑和体罚学生,对行为和学习等方面有问题的学生,应采取恰当的方法给予批评和教育,必要时及时通知学校和家长。
The teacher shall set standards of discipline for his or her room and maintain a positive learning environment. Each room shall reflect all school standards and expectations. Each teacher shall enforce school rules, dress code and safety; avoid inappropriate physical punishment, ridicule, and handling of students. Each teacher should act immediately if problems occur so that suggestions and assistance may be rendered in a timely manner. The teacher should anticipate a serious problem and inform administrators so that they are aware of the problem before hearing about it from parents or other staff members.
8、 教师应爱护并妥善使用学校为教学而配备的各种物品及学校公共设施。不能因私使用学校用于教学的设备。
It is the responsibility of each teacher to assist in caring for the school property, buildings, and materials. Materials and equipment checked out to teachers should be kept under lock and key and returned to the original source in a timely fashion. Avoid using school’s teaching facilities for personal use, such as copy machines, fax machine or postage machine.
9、教师应保护学生及同事间的个人隐私等信息。
Unless you have the parents’ written permission, you may not share information from a student’s cum folder or other private information with anyone outside of the professional school community.
Teachers of International Division of Linyi No.4 Middle School may be given access to and become acquainted with confidential information about students, parents/guardians and the school. All employees will be expected to maintain absolute confidentiality of all such information。 Violations of confidentiality will not be permitted and may subject the employee to legal recourse. Any employee who has any question as to whether certain information is confidential has an obligation to discuss the issue with their administrator prior to exposing the information.
Confidential information includes, but is not limited to: 以下为隐私信息的界定

· Personal issues and counseling information regarding employees, school members, and visitors
· Employee personnel information
· Financial information
· Any information contained in student files
10、教师应遵守居住公寓的管理规定,维系学校与公寓管理部门的合作关系。
Teachers should obey the residential apartment management regulations, helping the school to maintain good cooperative relationship with the apartment.
11、在中国工作期间,应遵守中国法律。认真履行与临沂四中签订的合同内容,如有工作变化意向,需在每年6月份向校长提出申请。
During teachers working in China, they should obey Chinese Laws. Teachers should carefully perform the contract with Linyi No.4 Middle School. If there is a job change intention, teachers should inform Principal in June every year.
二、 教师工作准则:Teacher Job Description
12、激励和帮助学生去探索并掌握其所在年级所学学科的知识内容。应当充分利用各种教育资源设计形成有效的教学方法。
It is the teacher’s responsibility to motivate students to explore experience and/or master the subject as appropriate to the grade level. A wise use of teacher guides, content standards, curriculum guides and other materials makes for a structured approach.
13、教师应当帮助学生设立切实可行的目标,并通过适当的激励措施,努力帮助每一位学生尽可能达到最好的程度。
The teacher will help each student experience his or her maximum level of success by setting realistic goals accompanied by appropriate motivation and encouragement.
14、教师应当布置适量的、各种形式的家庭作业,以帮助学生有效巩固所学知识,并做到及时评判。
The teacher should plan appropriate and sufficient coursework for both class time and homework that will set the learning into memory.
Teachers grade papers in order to maintain a continuous check on their teaching and on the learning of the students. Therefore, assignments or tests need to be graded by teachers in a timely manner. Tests and homework should ideally be graded and returned within two school days. To have value to the teaching learning situation, they must be graded within one school week. Major papers or projects should be graded and returned.
15、教师需要为高效教学和充分利用课堂教学时间而认真备课,需依据教学标准和教材设计教学内容,需依据学生学习情况,修正学习进度和方法。确保学生学好必学的知识及必要的技能。教师个人应保证准时参加集体的备课,吸收同事好的建议。
The teacher will continually plan for ongoing studies and a propitious use of class time. The teacher should plan sufficiently so that a good balance is accomplished between coverage of the material and gaining of adequate student mastery. The class learning pace should be a prime consideration. If the pace is too fast students will suffer frustration. If the pace is too slow, stagnation and boredom will result.
16、教师应当在遵循临沂四中和美国加州索斯兰·克里斯蒂安高中评分要求的前提下,针对自己所授学科,命制能够切实有效反映学生对学科内容掌握情况且科学合理的考试试卷和建立相应具体评分标准,并公正主持考试现场。
The teacher will set standards for acceptable mastery of his or her subject as determined by the SCS school grading scale. The teacher will help each student experience his or her maximum level of success by setting realistic goals accompanied by appropriate motivation and encouragement.
The teacher shall plan varies ways to measure and assess student accomplishment in each subject and follow department/school guidelines as set by the Principal. These standards and methods should be communicated with students at the beginning of study and reiterated throughout.
Teachers should avoid reading books, marking papers and cell phone usage while monitoring examinations.
17、教师需要准确并及时将记录学生成绩、教案、作业、学生学习参与度评价等内容上传到课程管理网络系统中,每两周上传一次。
For the teacher, accuracy and timeliness in regards to grading and record keeping are required. Lesson plans, grades and homework are to be consistently posted on Moodle every 2 weeks. Detailed information attached at following:

1. Create and upload a course syllabus that contains the following components:
a. Course Name

c. Course Description / Goals / Purpose

i. Introduction to Moodle (provided by SCS)
2. Upload weekly lesson plans (see creating effective lesson plans)
a. Upload lesson plans in the provided space
b. Have the following week’s plans uploaded by the close of business on Friday
3. Post Weekly Homework for Parents to View
a. Post a document with weekly homework or create a homework resource or activity for each assignment
4. Upload grades into Moodle
a. Upload grades once every two weeks
b. Due every second Friday
c. Turn in quarter grades after midterm
5. Upload Worksheets, Quizzes, & Tests into Moodle
a. Each worksheet or document used in class should be uploaded for reference
b. Quizzes & Tests must be made invisible to
students
6. Upload 1-2 student assignments each week into Moodle
a. Assignments that are uploaded should be designed to be completed electronically and submitted by students
i. Possible homework assignments include: worksheet, discussion, essay, ppt project, journal, etc.
b. Scanned assignments can also be submitted
7. Upload Midterm and Final Tests into the Course Resources
a. A copy of the exam that was taken is sufficient (word file)
b. Put these into course resources so they aren’t viewable or downloadable by students
18、教师应当严肃课堂纪律并且维持良好、安全、健康的教学环境。
The teacher shall set standards of discipline for his or her room and maintain a positive learning environment. Teachers should avoid cell phone usage and personal phone calls in the classroom including text messages; avoid checking personal email or sending personal email during classroom time. Classroom standards should be developed, communicated, and enforced. These may be individual in nature, but should contribute to effective teaching and learning.
教师应当严肃课堂纪律并且维持良好的教学环境。教师不得在教室内打电话或发短信,不得在课上接收和发送电子邮件。教师应建立、发展、沟通、并强化课堂纪律。具体内容可以因人而异,但是其目的均应是为了促进教师教学和学生学习。
When standards are broken, the teacher shall take appropriate methods to enforce the standard including, but not limited to, talking with the child, classroom punishment, dismissal to another classroom, exclusion from activities, supervised after school detention, assignment of extra work, and communication with parents. Teachers should not conduct corporal punishment in any form.
当学生有任何违纪行为时,教师应采取适当的办法进行处罚教育,其中包括与学生谈话、把学生请出教室、禁止其参与课堂活动、放学后留校、布置额外作业,以及与家长谈话等措施。教师禁止以任何形式进行体罚。
The school office shall keep a log or record for each child showing significant offenses, disciplinary action taken, and dates. It is expected that good behavior will be noticed and rewarded. It is the teachers’ right to maintain the kind of classroom atmosphere. Teachers are to have sufficient authority to accomplish this goal.
学校办公室应详细记录每一个学生的违纪行为,包括时间和违纪行为等。好的行为表现也应予以表彰和记录。教师有权维护良好的课堂气氛环境并尽力调控好它。
Students will be written up and sent to the principal for disciplinary action after all other methods have failed to make a difference in their behavior and, after appropriate effort has been made to involve parents. This “last case scenario” will indicate that the teacher has exhausted his/her resources and that another level of intervention needs to occur. This is a signal for the administration to undertake some new techniques, to place the child on probation, receive outside help from counselors and psychologists, or begin steps to remove the student from school.
当所有的沟通惩治措施都无法令学生改进其不良行为时,且在与家长沟通努力仍无进展的情况下,该学生将被正式送往校长处寻求进一步的处置。这一结果应是在教师已无力改变现状而不得不寻求其他办法时才不得已而为之的最后选择。针对这一情况,学校领导层可能采取某些新的举措,也可能给予学生留校察看等纪律处分,或者向青少年心理学家
When a child is sent to the office for disciplinary action the teacher shall fill out either a Discipline referral or a Detention Notice.
当学生因违纪行为被送往办公室时,教师应填写《纪律处罚表》或《留校通知》。
Additional actions will result in increased disciplinary action, such as suspension or expulsion. A conference with the parent/guardian, student, and principal will take place to determine or communicate a possible suspension or probation period.
违纪行为严重者将可能面临停学或开除的纪律处分,此时家长、学生和校长将就学生停学或留校察看时间进行沟通讨论。
19、教师应保证一定的时间满足学生课后的询问,当天有课的教师应保证早7:30-下午4:30在学校,当天没课的教师也应保证有半天时间在学校。
All teachers shall make themselves available to help students after school as duties provide. Teachers have to be at school from 7:30AM to 4:30PM on days when they teach; on days when they do not teach, they have to be on campus for half of the day.
20、教师应有参与各种形式学习培训活动的热情,并有对教学进行总结和诊断的职业习惯,不断提高自已的专业技能。准时参加学校各种会议。
The teacher is a learner and as such should continually work to re-evaluate and perfect his or her professional teaching skills. The teacher assessment form should be a familiar instrument forming the basis for self evaluation during the year. Attend school’s meeting on time.
21、教师应当就学生学习情况与学校管理层、其他老师以及家长保持及时的沟通与交流。教师应定期参加学生活动,从而在课堂教学之外维系和发展良好的师生关系。
The teacher shall initiate communication with school administrators, other employees and parents regarding progress and expectations. Each teacher should participate or periodically be a spectator of students during student activities so that rapport separate from academic pursuits may be developed.
22、备课组分为:英语、数学、历史、SAT分为一个组。物理、化学分为一个组.
